‘Don’t Waste Money On Nigeria’s 50th Independence’

A councillorship aspirant on the platform of Action Congress, for Ward ‘D’ in Alimosho Local Government, Lagos State, Nigeria, Yekini Ogunlewe has urged the Federal Government to be prudent in celebrating the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary.

He said that though 50 years of independence was remarkable, the government should not be extravagant about celebrating it.

Ogunlewe said further that the Golden jubilee should be a time for sober reflection for the leadership, with a view to moving the nation forward.

“It is better  to channel the fund to rebuilding Nigeria instead of using it for an unnecessary celebration that won’t help the society,” he said.

In another development, the Omo Eko Akindele Campaign Organization has commended the Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola on Establishment and Training, Hon. Oluwafemi Adebanjo for his  exemplary leadership role as he marks his 50th birthday anniversary.

The group in a statement made available to P.M.NEWS described him as a typical example of public servant/leader of high repute.

The group said he has carved a niche for himself with the way he carries party members along in Alimosho Local Government.

Hon. Shola Kehinde, a councillor representing ward ‘B’ in Alimosho Local Government, said he is happy for the ex-Lagos House of Assembly member, adding that he is worthy of praise and emulation.

He said that he appreciate Hon. Adebanjo on what he did for the people of Alimosho Local Government during his period as the council boss despite the seizure of local government allocation by ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo.
