Keshi Wants Eagles’ Job

Former skipper of the Super Eagles and one time assistant coach of the team, Stephen Keshi has declared interest in salvaging the team from the doldrums.

Keshi, who is one of the World Cup legends invited by the Local Organizing Committee, LOC of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in South Africa, said he could not understand the way the Super Eagles played in the Mundial and the manner in which they were sent packing at the group stage.

He disclosed that though he has been busy with his assignment in the World Cup, he still created time from his tight schedule to watch the Joseph Yobo skippered side fumble in South Africa.

On his readiness to tinker the Eagles he said: “I can help Nigeria again. I’m willing to help my country, anytime, any day that I’m called upon to do so. I can do anything within my reach to help Nigeria regain her position at the summit of football in the world.”

He described the crop of players paraded by Lars Lagerback in the World Cup as unpatriotic, stressing that they would have salvaged the situation if they had been more committed in their approach to their matches.

He went further to describe the impasse rocking the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, as bad and castigated the administrators for not doing enough to ensure that the Eagles were adequately prepared for the World Cup.

Keshi, who spoke on the South Africa Broadcasting Corporation, SABC after President Goodluck Jonathan announced the ban on the NFF said: “Nigeria must change now. What needs to be done after the exit of Sani Lulu and others is to reshape the future of the game. We have to do something drastic to right the wrongs in our football. Anyway, I’m ever ready to do my best to help Nigeria anytime that the call is made, even if it would be in the middle of the night provided that there is flight from wherever I am. I’m ready to serve and wipe the tears of the over 150  million  Nigerians.”
