Globacom has reaffirmed its leadership in the Blackberry market with the introduction of BlackBerry U, a new package that offers the lowest and uniform tariff structure for Prepaid BlackBerry users on the network.

With the new package, On-net and Off-net calls for users of BlackBerry U now come at a uniform rate of N25 per minute for calls as against the current Classic Plus On-net rate of N28.8 per minute and Off-net rate of N42 per minute.

The new package is targeted at high net-worth individuals who are already using BlackBerry from Glo and individuals who wish to enjoy the huge benefits of the package, especially as it gives them considerable savings. All a subscriber needs to do is text ‘U’ to short code 7070 and the device will be automatically upgraded to BlackBerry U.

Apart from BlackBerry devices, smart phone devices and high-end phones like I mate, I Mode, Nokia E71, E63, Communicator, etc, can also be configured to access niche packages which BlackBerry devices provide. This includes connection to push email and access to social sites like Facebook and Twitter. Globacom’s Head of Value Added Services, Mr. Samson Isa, disclosed that existing customers who activate BIS Month (monthly prepaid BlackBerry service) and BIS Week (weekly prepaid BlackBerry service) would be migrated to the new lower prepaid tariff from their existing tariff plan. “Old and new subscribers are going to enjoy this tariff as long as they remain on Glo BlackBerry,” he added.

To choose any of the available packages for prepaid BlackBerry from Glo such as the daily, weekly or monthly plan, a Glo subscriber with a BlackBerry device or any other BlackBerry-enabled device only needs to send an SMS with the appropriate keyword to 777. For the daily plan, which costs N400, the keyword is “bisday”, for the weekly plan, which goes for N1,500, the keyword is “bisweek” while the keyword for the monthly plan, which costs N4,800, is “bismonth”.

“With the best and widest GPRS coverage in Nigeria, subscribers using BlackBerry from Glo can therefore be guaranteed the most reliable services in more locations across the country. This is the incredible value that comes with being on the Glo network,” he said.
