A gang of armed robbers struck in the early hours of this morning,  at a church, Outbreak Revival Ministries International at Augustus Avenue, Oko Oba Abattoir, Agege, Lagos State, Nigeria, in search of Canadian visas said to have been recently obtained by members of the church.

P.M.NEWS
gathered that the robbers attacked one of the church’s security guards and stole his motor bike. The wife of a pastor resident of the church was also battered because she had no money to give them.

The gang went to the pastor’s wife’s apartment within the premises, ate snacks and drank soft drinks the woman was selling. Though they ransacked the senior pastor’s office, they could not get money, visa or any other important documents they were allegedly looking for.

Sources informed P.M.NEWS that the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Femi Morakinyo, recently assisted some of his church members to get Canadian visa, but he had handed over the visas to the beneficiaries to perfect  their travel arrangements.

When Pastor Morakinyo was contacted by our correspondent,  he wondered why his church should be the target of armed robbery attack. He declined further comments.

Meanwhile, with the arrest of Pastor Emmanuel Mammah of the Living Chapel Gospel Church, Ejigbo, Nigeria, it seems that the last has not been heard of the burglary that happened at Ejigbo Magistrate’ Court recently.

Pastor Mammah was arrested for allegedly buying some electronic gadgets allegedly stolen by two suspects, Uchenna Onwuegbunam, 22 and 18-year old Timothy Ogologbo.

The cost of the stolen items were estimated at the court at N178,000 but the pastor bought some of the items at the paltry sum of N10,000.

The lid was blown open when the suspect, Uchenna, who had earlier been arrested reportedly confessed to the police that he and Timothy burgled the court and sold their loot to the pastor.

The police went to the pastor’s house and found the items. They arrested him and recovered the items as exhibit.

The pastor and the two suspects were arraigned before the court. Pastor Mammah was charged with buying stolen items but he pleaded not guilty to the charge, claiming that he did not know they were stolen and was granted bail.  His trial has been adjourned till 19 July, 2010.

Uchenna and Timothy were charged with burglary and theft. They pleaded guilty and are now awaiting sentence.

At the time of filing this report,  Pastor Mammah was still in prison custody as he was still trying to perfect his bail conditions. The Magistrate’s Court, Ejigbo, had  been burgled twice this year during which Mrs. M. B. Folami lost the items that have now been  recovered by the police.
