Surulere LG Opens World Cup Viewing Centre

As part of the social responsibilities in the society, Surulere Sports Development Centre, SSDC, in conjunction with Surulere Local Government is organising Kick-In-Education With Football.”

The programme is organised as a way of encouraging youth to watch matches of the 2010 World Cup at the newly renovated public library, Surulere.

Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Dr. Rasak Folani told P.M.Sports that the council with SSDC want to use the World Cup to encourage youths to visit the public library where they will have the opportunity to read and at the same time watch matches of the World Cup.

“We discovered that after we renovated the public library, it is hard to see people making use ofthe the place for reading. We decided to bring World Cup viewing centre within the compound of the library to encourage the youth to patronise the centre,” he said.

The sports-loving council boss revealed that people who come to the viewing centre during the world Cup  will have an opportunity to take part in quiz competition.

“We are going to organise series of competitions among the youth where a lot of prizes will be won,” he revealed.

SSDC co-ordinator, Dotun Atilade said the concept  “Kick-In-Education With Football” will help the youth in Surulere community to develop reading habit during the World Cup period.
