Fulham of England’s Dickson Etuhu is not happy about the heap of praises showered on the Super Eagles despite losing their opening match to Argentina.

The Delta born midfielder, told P.M.Sports at their Waterfront Hotel camp, Richards Bay that he was disappointed over the Eagles performance against the Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina.

“You know what? I was surprised hearing everyone praising us for losing to Argentina. That was not a good match to me because we didn’t really play them hard enough.

“Again, we allowed Messi and his colleagues to get away with a lone goal, which to me counts more than whatever we played at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg. I’m still trying to get over that match, we were so close to scoring yet we missed the opportunities,” Etuhu said.

The player reasoned that the Nigerian team began the World Cup on a very sad note, declaring that such a result should be a wake up call for the players to brace up for the next matches.

“We are now in a fix, as we must play to win the remaining two matches, otherwise we won’t get anywhere. I’m hopeful that we’ll get a good result against our opponents, so we have to prove our worth against Greece and finish up with another fine game against Korea in Durban,” he said.
