If civil servants think that the new Head of Service, HOS, Mr. Adesegun Ogunlewe will be lenient with their usual habit of coming late to work, they are in for a big surprise.

The HOS has made it clear that he would not tolerate this unwholesome habit and warned civil servants to desist from it.

At a meeting held with staff of the Public Service Office (PSO) at the State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, Ogunlewe advised them to always be punctual and discharge their duties efficiently.

“Punctuality is the soul of business, so be punctual and do your work well. When you are committed and dedicated to what you are doing, you will get the best out of it always,” he said.

The HOS urged them to think of how best to improve the implementation of various people-oriented policies of the present administration, advising them to take advantage of the knowledge that they had and generate ideas for the progress of the state.

“Public servants should not wait for political office holders for ideas but rather use their acquired knowledge to generate them once the framework is set by the government.

To the PSO staff, he said: “you must be a shining example to other public servants in the State. Being the agency of government that provides leadership for the service; all eyes will be on you. You have to re-dedicate yourself more to serve humanity by rendering good services to the people of the State and government.”
