Milo Secondary Schools Tourney: Train Moves To Western, Central ConferencesSecondary

Participating schools have started honing their skills ahead of the Western and Central Conference finals of Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship, which will hold in Ibadan, Oyo State and Ilorin, Kwara State respectively.

International School, Lagos (ISL) and Ilupeju Grammar School will represent Lagos State in the final of the Western Conference. Other states competing at the conference are Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Ogun State.

Teams from Bauchi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Abuja, Niger, Plateau, Benue and Gombe State will compete in the Central Conference in Ilorin. The regional finals in the two conferences comes up between 18- 24 June.

Meanwhile, Ebonyi and Enugu States have confirmed their superiority in the finals of Atlantic Conference. In the final of the boys’ event at the Atlantic Conference, St Augustine Seminary, Ebonyi defeated Marise Brothers Juniorate, Abia 49-46 points to emerge the conference champions, while the girls’ team from Annunciation Secondary School, Enugu overcame Royal Girls Academy of Port Harcourt in a game that ended 25-14 points to confirm their place in the Lagos grand finale.

Being the hosts of the regional conference, the ladies from Enugu enjoyed massive support from the home fans to overcome the obstacle posed by Rivers State’s team.

Owerri Girls Secondary School settled for the third place at the conference. Eight teams played in the conference with teams from Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Imo, Anambra and Abia State contending for the conference title.
