As part of his game plan ahead of Nigeria’s clash with Argentina in their first group match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Saturday, Super Eagles’ coach, Lars Lagerback is taking the players out on a tough training session this evening.

There is no doubt that confidence is sky-high in the Eagles’ camp as they get set to kick off their fourth World Cup campaign at Ellis Park stadium, Johannesburg. Reports from South Africa early today say the players are battle-ready to face the drilling of their life by Lagerback.

Media Officer of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Ademola Olajire, said the coach wants to use this evening’s training to select his starting XI against the Argentina national team.

He disclosed that the Swede has told the Eagles to brace up for the challenge awaiting them in the last serious training ahead of Saturday’s cracker. He said Lagerback wants to know how physically and mentally fit the players are before their first match.

“The coach has demanded focus and commitment from the players. He has also told them that only the best will make his team against Argentina on Saturday. The training this evening will be tough. Though the players have told the coach that they are raring to go, Lagerback wants to make sure that he perfects his plans well for the Argentines and he is happy that there is no injury scare in the team,” Demola said.

Meanwhile, Eagles’ assistant coach Roland Andersson has said he is confident that the team are set to face Argentina on Saturday.
