Kano State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has disassociated himself and his family from calls by a certain group that one of his wives should contest a Senatorial seat in 2011.

Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Malam Sule Ya’u Sule, the governor stated categorically that his wives are not politicians and have no desire to contest for any political position.

According to Malam Sule, “we are in possession of posters urging one of the wives of His Excellency to contest for a senatorial seat.

“This is baseless because the governor’s wives are housewives and do not intend to take part in partisan politics.”

He added that the posters were printed without the knowledge of either the governor or his wife.

The governor’s media aide,  however,  declined to mention the name of the group sponsoring the posters. Sule,  however, appealed to people who think they wish the governor’s family well or want them to contest for any position to immediately desist from printing posters or related materials urging any of them to vie for a political seat.
