President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria this morning commissioned two road projects at Odo Ona Elere Phase I and Molete to Queen Cinema road both in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. He was on a one-day visit to the state.
Jonathan, who arrived Ibadan at about 10.14 a.m., was received by four governors, Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun, Segun Oni of Ekiti, Gbenga Daniel of Ogun and the host, Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Those who arrived with Jonathan were former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, traditional rulers Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oyewunmi Ajagungbade, Alaafin Of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Onile Igbon of Onile Igbon, Oba Osunbade Adegboyega Samuel, among others.
Commercial activities in the ancient city were temporarily halted as a huge crowd gathered to welcome the president.
Students from public schools lined up major streets in the city to welcome the august visitor.
President Jonathan also visited the Molete Baptist Church in Ibadan for the 60th birthday thanksgiving of Governor Akala.
