It will be a fierce battle when tournament No. 2 seed and defending champion, Abdulmumini Babalola and his arch rival, Shehu Lawal clash in the quarter final of the 32nd Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Senior Tennis Open at the National Stadium, Lagos, Nigeria this afternoon.
The match promises to be explosive judging from the pedigree of both players in the CBN Open in the last few editions. Tennis pundits see the match as final before the final, as who wins the encounter will be a likely favourite to lift the trophy on Saturday.
Other quarter final pairings in the Men’s Singles will see No. 1 seed, Sunday Emmanuel taking on Thomas Otu, while Candy Idoko will battle Taiwo Owolabi. In the Women’s Singles, defending champion and No. 1 seed, Fatima Abinu will battle 2008 winner, Christy Agugbom in another explosive quarter final pairing, while Blessing Samuel will take on Anu Ayegbusi.
