‘Enact Law Against Indecent Dressing’

The National Assembly has been called upon to enact a law against indecent dressing by young girls and women in the country.

The Ifako Area Superintendent, The Apostilic Church (TAC), Pastor Timothy Fasan, said this at a news conference while announcing the forthcoming inauguration of the Ifako chapter of the church on 20 June, 2010 at Agege, Lagos, Nigeria.

Fasan lamented the drop in moral standards among girls, adding that the situation has become appalling. He said some young girls and women walk almost naked on the streets without shame.

“On the streets, immoral dressing is the order of the day. Young girls go almost naked. Some of them put on dresses that expose their breasts and other parts of their bodies that should be covered. It is not good, though there is no law to stop this in the nation. We don’t need to wear dresses that will reveal our body.

“Even women who have stopped bearing children dressed indecently these days. It is a sin before God. We need a law against this in this country,” said Fasan.

The cleric also called on the Federal Government to place a ban on playing football on Sundays, saying “it is a sin for the nation to be playing football on Sunday.”

“If the Federal Government can change this, it will be good for the nation,” he said, adding that there is a need for the nation to be prayerful so that her problems can be solved.

He was of the opinion that prayer would help to curb social vices in the society as well as religious crisis that is frequent in the north.
