President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, HFN, Yusuf Dauda has advised Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, to hold the election into the executive committee of the body to avoid  the wrath of the International Olympic Committee, IOC.

Taiwo Adelu reports that the NOC election has suffered several postponements and Dauda believes if care is not taken, Nigeria may be sanctioned by the international bodies like the IOC and Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOCA), whose president, Lassana Palenfo, has requested  a suitable date for the NOC electionn from Nigeria.

Dauda said the NOC’s incumbent executive has no choice but to hold election, which he said was long overdue. He added that stakeholders in Nigerian sports are determined to ensure the election holds, following due process.

“No date was given in the notice shifting the election once more, but the poll must hold; that is inevitable,” he told PM Sports at the National Stadium, Lagos over the weekend.

It was gathered that the election was slated to hold on 13 May, but had to be postponed again, which according to NOC spokesman, Tony Nezianya, was at the instance of members of the Reconciliation Committee headed by Rev. Moses Iloh.
