The  Kaduna State government  is set to host its first Unity Week and Excellence Awards.

The event, which is being organised in conjunction with Blaque Media Limited, a Lagos-based event and marketing company, is aimed at recognising individuals and corporate bodies that have contributed to the economic and social growth of the state.

The executive director of the company, Seun Ofodile, disclosed that the week-long event, which comes in six phases, was conceptualised to portray not only the peaceful atmosphere that prevails in Kaduna State, but also to showcase the rich cultural values and tourism potential of the state.

According to him, “unlike some Northern states where violence has erupted in recent times, Kaduna State remains a peaceful place where people can do their business without any fear of attack.

“Apart from that, it is also important for people to understand that Kaduna is blessed with exotic tourist sites and first class hotels.”

The first phase of the event, which is the peace walk, which is expected to be flagged off by His Excellency, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, the Vice President of Nigeria, will also see prominent citizens, top government officials and top entertainers, among others, take to the streets to propagate the ideals of the event, which is peaceful cohabitation.

A novelty match between celebrities and top government officials as well as a visit to the orphanages, according to him, will wrap up the second and third phases of the event.

Highlight of the social event, Ofodile disclosed further, will be the Awards ceremony designed to recognise individuals and corporate bodies that have contributed to the development of the state as well as a musical concert featuring some of the nation’s big entertainers and their Kaduna-based colleagues.
