'Lagosians'll No Longer Accept Mediocrity'

“The time for mediocrity is gone and Lagosians are now weary of putting inexperienced and unpopular persons in positions of trust. It is time to put round pegs in round holes.”

These were the words of Mr. Seun Williams, an Action Congress (AC) aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly from Lagos Mainland.

Making a formal declaration for the Lagos assembly in next year’s general elections, Williams declared that ”the time is ripe for Lagos Mainland to have quality representation in the state House of Assembly.

“There are legion of problems facing Lagos Mainland. They include unemployment, bad roads and lack of potable water. There is also drainage problem which often results in flood.

“To properly articulate these problems and profer solutions to them, we need quality representation. As a grassroots man, I feel the state House of Assembly is the best place to articulate the feelings of my people.

”As a legislator, I will be able to positively influence the government policy towards meeting the welfare of the people of my constituency,” Williams stated while giving reason for his decision to vie for a seat in the House of Assembly again.

Williams who was asked to step down by the leadership of AC in 2006 for another candidate said his campaign’s slogan this time around is “Restitution 2011,” to remind those who asked him to step down for another candidate that ”it is time to compensate me for obeying the party and working for it at a critical period.

“I have worked for the party and ensured that it remained strong in Lagos. Unlike some of my colleagues who decamped to other parties, I decided to stay in AC and ensure it remains strong. This is pay back time and I know my leaders are all aware of this.”

More than two thousand AC supporters stormed the Ebute-Metta hall where Williams made his formal declaration. It was attended by AC leaders in the area.
