Give Us Role In Grassroots Governance, Monarch Appeals To Fashola

Chief Sheu Saka, the traditional ruler of Abule Oshun in Oriade Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, has called on the state government to accord traditional rulers a role in grassroots governance, hinging his position on the fact that they are closer to the people.

Speaking with P.M.News, the monarch said the role of traditional rulers in the communities cannot be ignored as they are closer to the people at the grassroots, urging government to allow them to participate in the running of local governments.

While advising the government to seek advice in the selection of those to represent the people at the various council areas during local government election in the state, the traditional ruler lauded the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, for his efforts in making life more meaningful to traditional chiefs in Lagos.

Chief Saka also expressed gratitude to the Onigbanko of Igbankoland, Oba Babatunde Lawal, for installing him as baale of Abule Oshun at the appropriate time, while giving kudos to the Council of Oba in Lagos including the Oniba of Ibaland, Oba Goriola Oseni; Alado of Adoland, Oba Olayinka Ado; Oba Isaac Olayeni, Alamuwo of Amuwoland and Alabirun of Ikaare Kingdom, Oba Nureni Adisa Kayode Akinyemi, among others.
