A traditional ruler, Baale of Sagbokodji, a riverine  community in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Chief Avime Anthony was recently held to ransom and brutalized by suspected cultists because he allegedly refused to cooperate with them.

According to the traditional ruler, the cultists, suspected to be  members of  Black Axe, Eiye and Vikings confraternity, attacked him because he refused to accede to their request to operate on the Island.

“They also dealt machete cuts on youths in the community who refused to be initiated into their groups,” Chief Avime told P.M.NEWS at Sagbokodji jetty.

Also briefing newsmen about the cultists invasion, the secretary of the Community Development Council and  Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government on Rural Development, Hon. Hennu Solomon, said the Onisiwo Island, comprising Sagbokodji, Bishop Kodji, Iwede, Hun Agan and other villages had witnessed peace until recently when the cultists came and two headless bodies were discovered in the village.

Solomon added that a decomposing body was also recovered while the cultists openly attacked youths who refused to be  initiated into their fold.

“We are therefore calling on the Lagos State police commissioner, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo to ensure a police post is located in Sagbokodji to curb the activities of these criminals,” Solomon stated, stressing that the community had forwarded a save-our-soul message to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos.
