The trial of the three accused persons, Gbadegesin Okunola, Abiodun Adeyemi and Egbele Austin Eromosele and Baruwa Pharmaceutical Company, standing trial before a Federal High Court in Lagos, was this morning stalled because of the absence of the prosecuting counsel.
No reason was given for the absence of the prosecutor.
However, counsel to the accused persons, Osaro Egbobamin, who led three other lawyers, while applying for the case to be adjourned, urged the court to hear their application and reopen their factory because it contains other companies not producing My Pikin teething mixture which allegedly killed some children that were administered with the syrup.
In acceding to his request, Justice Okechukwu Okeke adjourned the matter till 15 June when the application will be heard.
The three accused persons and Barewa Pharmaceutical Company were arraigned before the court for producing adulterated killer My Pikin teething mixture.
