Fast-rising Yoruba movie star actress Abolanle Abdulsalam has said that she abhors unnecessary attention and razzmatazz that is common in the showbiz industry.

Pretty Abolanle, who has been in the industry and contributed significantly to the growth of her sector of the industry said she shuns vain glory and values her family name and her privacy.

“I am a very simple and inquisitive person. That is why I keep a low profile. I have to protect my name and dignity of my family. Not that I don’t like the razzmatazz of the industry but acting has been one of the major sources of my happiness, I enjoy it without having to attract all those tales surrounding the profession,” Abolanle said.

She added that the late Alade Aromire, who was her mentor, taught her and her colleagues who passed through him that “we don’t have to go out of our way in the name of making it big as an actor or being famous in the industry. But we should work hard and that hard work would speak well for us. And that has been my philosophy and it has been really working for me.”

Abolanle, a native of Ekiti State, is a graduate of History and International Relations from Lagos State University. She grew up in a family of eight and started her journey into the make-believe world from the English sector of Nollywood before she met the late Alade Aromire.

The mother of one has produced four movies including Itakun Ife, Oba Adetoyese, Kosenitoye and Aturota. She is currently working on the script of her fifth movie.
