The Lagos State Government has approved the release of N1.5 billion for the payment of another batch of retirees, numbering 238 from the State Public Service for the month of November.

This brings the number of retirees paid so far, between August and November, this year to at least 1,992.

The Director General, Lagos State Pension Commission, Mrs. Folashade Onanuga said that despite the fact that the State Government has other things contending for funds, the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, believed that retirees deserved to be honoured, having put in their best while in active service.

“This is part of the change the administration has promised the people of Lagos State,” she added.

Speaking at the presentation, Onanuga, while welcoming the retirees to the 21st Retirement Bond Certificate Presentation Ceremony, held at the NECA House, Central Business District, Ikeja, said retirees should be wary of any business they might want to invest their money in.

She said the retirees would soon be issued identification cards to enable them access health care facilities.
