With news of the divorce of Nollywood star couple Saheed and Fathia Balogun still thick in the air, the actress (Fathia) has expressed pains over her separation from the popular actor.
“I would say the most painful thing is being separated from Saheed Balogun. I feel sometimes, it’s just destiny. Sometimes, you are not lucky to have what you want. If God says no, no one can say yes. I think in the past few years, that has been my most painful memory,” Fathia stated in an interview with celebrity magazine, City People.
While she has been trying to overcome the disappointment caused by the failed marriage, Fathia claimed that the major thorny issue between her and Saheed was allegedly fuelled by the media which didn’t help her to manage the crisis, and that alone nearly killed her.
Saheed and Fathia got married in September 2000 at the Ikorodu marriage registry. The marriage produced two kids (Khalid, a boy and Aliyah, a girl). Few years into their union, the once happy couple started having problems when news of counter-allegations of infidelity started flying around them.
The marital trouble became a staple for celebrity magazines and tabloids, with Fathia alleged to be having a steamy relationship with a popular movie marketer, while Saheed was said to be in a hot relationship with a busty actress who recently failed to win an election into a House of Assembly as a lawmaker.
The crisis climaxed when Saheed filed for divorce on 12 April, 2013 in a suit No HD/132/13. The dissolution of the marriage was later granted in the High Court of Lagos State on 17 January, 2014.
But unconfirmed news has it that Saheed is preparing to give marriage a shot once more as news of his engagement to a Lagos-based accountant is in the air.
