Court remands man for stealing 10 cows

A Pantami Chief Magistrates’ Court, Gombe, on Friday ordered the remand of 25 year-old-man, Umar Buba of Zaune village, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, for allegedly stealing 10 cows valued at N1.5 million.

The prosecutor, Insp. Ismail Adamu told the court that the defendant, who denied committing the offence, dishonestly stole the cows, property of one Mohammed Bose of Suka village.

According to him, the accused committed the offence on Dec. 15, 2016, at about 1200 hours, adding that the offence is punishable under Section 287 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor told the court that investigation is still ongoing and asked the court to adjourn the case to enable him complete investigation

The counsel to the accused, Sunday Dabis, said he has no objection, but urged the prosecutor to speed up investigation.

The Chief Magistrate, Alhaji Bello Sheriff adjourned the case till Feb. 7, for further mention and ordered the remand of the accused person.
