The Emir of Hadejia in Jigawa, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, has called on farmers and herdsmen to co-exist peacefully in order to promote peace and unity in the society.

Abubakar made the call in a message to mark the Eid-el-Maulud celebration on Tuesday in Hadejia.

He said the call was imperative to control incessant farmers and herdsmen clashes as well as encourage sustainable socio-economic development.

Abubakar stressed the need for the farmers and herdsmen to shun acts capable of disrupting peace and admonished his subjects to be law abiding.

The emir also commended the government and security agencies for their effort to maintain law and order as well as enhance security in the state.

The emir hoisted a symbolic durbar to mark the event.

The occasion was attended by Gov. Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, former military governor of the defunct Kano State, Air Marshal (RTD), Hamza Abdullahi and members of the national and state assemblies.

Schools, organizations and individuals also organized lectures and prayer sessions to celebrate the Maulud.

Jigawa government declared Tuesday a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
