A 35-year-old man, Abinbila Etuk, on Tuesday admitted before a Federal High Court in Lagos that he deals on illicit drugs.

Etuk, a scavenger was arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on one-count charge bordering on dealing on banned narcotics.

He had no legal representative and pleaded guilty to the charge.

Following his plea, the prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, prayed the court for a remand of the accused, while he sought a date for a review of facts.

The judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and fixed Dec. 19, for a review of facts.

The prosecutor had told the court that the accused was arrested on July 29, at the Aradagun area of Badagry Lagos.

According to the prosecutor, 1.6 kg of cannabis sativa was seized from the accused, reported to be a supplier of the narcotics to customers. He said that the accused was accordingly arrested and charged.

The offence contravened the provisions of Sections 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation, 2004.
