The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, said as the fight against Boko Haram insurgency entered crucial stage, the Federal Government as providing troops with necessary support.

Buratai stated this while interacting with newsmen at the headquarters of the Theatre Command in Maiduguri on Friday after inspecting some vehicles procured for the troops.

“Our troops are ready and determined to do what they should do for us to get this thing, insurgency, behind us finally,” he said.

Responding to the question, the army chief said: “It is very clear that the terrorists have been defeated; there is no doubt about it.

“We are doing the mop up operations and to ensure that we clear the remnants of them. It is one thing to defeat, it is another thing for the terrorists to surrender.”

He described the vehicles as “force multipliers’’ that would assist the troops to move and carry out their operational requirements in the theater of operation.

He explained that the supply of vehicles among other necessary equipment was an indication that the Federal Government was doing all it could to equip and motivate the troops to win the war.
