Woman organises own kidnap, extorts N5m from relations

The police in Rivers State have paraded a 22-year old woman, Janet Okoro who masterminded her own kidnapping and extorted N5m from her relatives.

The woman was among 52 suspected criminals arrested by policemen in different parts of the state.

They were paraded before journalists at the Command headquarters in Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday.

Among those paraded was a man accused of involvement in the murder of a Divisional Police Officer in Port Harcourt.

The state Commissioner of Police, Francis Odesanya said 10 of the suspects were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, 30 suspected armed robbers and eleven suspects involved in cultism.

Odesanya disclosed that his men also recovered eight firearms, two magazines, seven vehicles and large quantities of Indian hemp.
