The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) says selected players for the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)World Junior Championships in South Africa, will depart the country on Nov. 29.

Chinedu Ezealah-Ogundare, Secretary of the federation said in Lagos on Monday that eight boys and eight girls would participate in the event scheduled from Nov. 30 to Dec. 7.

“We are preparing to ensure that the country is well represented in Cape Town, where the World junior Championships will serve-off.

“Our players will leave the country a day to the competition,’’ she said.

The scribe added that the NTTF National Championships holding from Nov. 15 to Nov. 19 in Lagos would serve as the final medium to evaluate players’ readiness for the ITTF Championship.

She, however, said that players who failed to excel in the national championship would be dropped and replaced with players who perform brilliantly to represent the country.

“We are also using the national championships that will commence tomorrow to test-run the players to know how fit and prepare they are.

“Any of the players who perform woefully will be drop and replace in order to ensure that we have the best representative in the world championships,’’ she said.
