Ekiti Assembly passes Health Insurance Scheme Bill 2016

Ekiti State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Ekiti Health Insurance Scheme Bill 2016.

The passage of the bill followed the submission and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Health, Human Services, HIV and AIDS.

The committee chairman, Mrs. Cecilia Dada, presented the report before the House.

The Speaker, Mr. Kola Oluwawole, who presided over Thursday’s plenary, said that if the bill is signed into law by the governor, the citizens would have unhindered access to healthcare.

“I can assure you that when this bill is eventually accented to by Gov. Ayo Fayose, the Assembly has put in place policies that will ensure the sustenance of its provisions,” he said.

Speaking after presenting the report of the committee to the House, its chairman Mrs. Cecilia Dada, said that the bill would enable the less privileged have access to good health services.

She commended the executive for initiating the bill, saying Ekiti people would benefit from its provisions.
