The Anambra Government, in collaboration with the Bank of Industry, would train 500 youths in various skills, to enhance entrepreneurship development in the state, an official said on Thursday in Awka.

Dr Uju Nwogu, Commissioner for Sports Redevelopment and Youth Entrepreneurship, said the beneficiaries would be trained for three weeks.

The commissioner, who spoke during an orientation seminar for the first batch of 100 beneficiaries, said the training would be in the areas of ICT, building technology, confectionery, fashion and phone repairs.

“This programme which is targeted at setting up about 500 youths in the first phase, is in partnership with Bank of Industry and Anambra State Small Business Agency.

“This is part of the efforts of the present administration to make the army of youths in the state self-dependent and job creators.”

She urged those selected to commit themselves to the training, so as to benefit maximally from it.
