The Correspondents Chapel has boasted it will dethrone the champions of the football event of the 2015 Med-View-Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Media Games, Lagos State Information Service.

Sodiq Martins, Manager of the Correspondents team, said that he was optimistic his team would win gold in the Five-A-Side- football event.

The Games, sponsored by Med-view Airlines and supported by Big Cola Drinks, is scheduled for Oct. 24 to Oct. 29 at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Martins said his team was not scared of the past winners, saying that surprises and luck often occurred in competitions.

“My team aims to win this year’s football competition; I don’t care if Lagos Information or the SUN Newspapers were winners in previous editions.

“I know we are here to win; we have been training before now. I am happy that we won our first match against Lagos Television (LTV).

“For me, it is a good start and I believe we will continue to win,’’ he said.

NAN reports that the Correspondents Chapel which is in Group C with the LTV, New Nigeria and Business Plus showed superiority over LTV by winning 2-0.

In Group A are Lagos State Ministry of Information, The Nation Newspapers, The Detective Newspapers and Voice of Nigeria.

Group B comprises The Sun, Vanguard, Champion Newspapers and New Telegraph Newspapers, while DAAR Communications, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Information and the Source are in Group D.

Other events being featured at the Games are Scrabble, Ayo, Athletics, Chess, Table Tennis.
