BREAKING: Buhari sends 46 non-career ambassadorial nominees to Senate

President Muhamadu Buhari on Thursday sent names of 46 persons to the Senate for consideration as non-career ambassadors.

President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, read the names of the nominees at plenary as contained in a letter sent by the president.

The list, which did not contain nomination from Imo and Federal Capital Territory, has Dr Uzoma Ememke (Abia), Dr Clifford Zirra (Adamawa), Maj.-Gen. Godwin Umo (retd) (Akwa tbom) and Christopher Okeke (Anambra) as some of the nominees.

Bauchi state got two nominees – Yusuf Tugar and Baba Madugu,
Brig.-Gen. Stanley Diriyai (Bayelsa), Dr Enyantu Ifenne (Benue), Mohammed Hayatuddeen (Borno), Dr Etubom Asuquo (Cross River), Mr Francis Efeduma (Delta) and Mr Jonah Odo (Ebonyi).

The Edo has Uyagwe Igbe, Ekiti – Ayodele Ayodeji, Enugu – Maj.-Gen. Chris Eze, Gombe – Alhaji Suleiman Hassan, Jigawa – Amin Dalhatu, Kaduna – Muhammad Yaro and Deborah Iliya.

Others are Prof. D. Abdulkadir and Alhaji Haruna Ungogo (Kano), lsa Dodo and Dr Usman Bugaje (Katsina), Prof. Tijjani Bande (Kebbi), Prof. Y. Aliu (Kogi) and Nuruddeen Mohamed and Prof. Mohamed Yisa (Kwara).

Also on the list are Sen. Olorunimbe Mamora, Mrs Modupe Irele and Justice Oguntade (Lagos), Musa Muhammad (Nasarawa), Mohammad Ibeto (Niger), Mr Ade Asekun (Ogun) and Mr Sola Iji (Ondo).

Adegboyega Ogunwusi (Osun), retired Maj.-Gen. Ashimiyu Olaniyi (Oyo), Mrs PauIine Tallen and Dr Haruna Abduahi (Plateau), Orji Ngofa and Justice Sylvanus Nsofor (Rivers), and Jamila Ahmadu-Suka and Malam Kabiru Umar (Sokoto).

The rest are Alhaji Mustapha Jaji (Taraba), Goni Bura (Yobe) and Alhaji Garba Gajam and Cpt. Abdullahi Garbasi (retd) from Zamfara.

Saraki referred the list to the Committee on Foreign Affairs for screening and gave it two weeks to submit its report.
