The PDP Edo state governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu campaign team on Monday left over 80 widows hungry and disappointed after they spent many hours waiting for members of the team and then leaving for their homes, with almost nothing.

The widows had gathered at Norion Foundation in Benin, expecting the campaign team, led by Idia, Ize Iyamu’s wife to give them worthwhile gifts.

They waited for many hours almost in vain.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fatigued women were seen grumbling when they found there was no provision for their feeding.

One of the widows, Mrs. Elizabeth Osaze said she arrived at the venue around 8a.m waiting for Mrs. Ize-Iyamu.

“Could you imagine, we have spent several hours here, waiting for Mrs. Ize-Iyamu’s campaign team to come and address us.

“Instead of her to make provision for food, she gave us 20 face towels that will not go round and we were more than 80,” she said

Another widow said she arrived the venue before 8 a.m, thinking she would go home with something reasonable.

She added that instead she was going home disappointed because the 20 face towels distributed were not enough.

NAN reports that the Ize-Iyamu campaign team brought their campaign to Norion Foundation on Observer Lane, in the ancient Benin capital, to woo widows ahead of the September 10 election in the state.
