Security guard docked over criminal conspiracy, theft

A Security Guard, Odu Nathaniel (52), was on Wednesday brought before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing N842,000.

Nathaniel, who resides in Satellite town, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and aiding a suspect to escape from custody.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Uche Simon told the court that the accused had committed the offences on July 29 at 7 p.m., at Unic Guest House, Satellite Town, Lagos.

He said that the accused conspired with one Benson Cross Onah, now at large, and stole N842, 000 from the hotel.

The prosecutor alleged that Nathaniel connived with Onah, an accountant in the hotel, and stole the money.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 121, 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Nathaniel, however, not guilty to the three-count charge preferred against him.

Section 285 prescribes three years’ imprisonment for convicted offenders.

The Magistrate, Mr Titus Abolarinwa, however, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Abolarinwa adjourned the case to Oct. 25, for mention.
