The new Miss Nigeria, Christiana Kalo has paid a courtesy visit to the Sole Administrator of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, Ikoyi, Lagos, Mr Felix Goke Olawale, to formally introduce herself.

The visit was also to inform the local government boss of her Child Empowerment project she intends to execute for the vunerable, motherless and indigent children in the LCDA and all the local government areas in Lagos State
during her one year reign.

She was warmly received by the Sole Administrator and other senior officials.

Other dignitaries in attendance includes the Sole Administrators of Eti-Osa LCDA, Princess Abiodun Elegushi, Itire-Ikate LCDA boss, Mrs Samiat Raji, Ikoyi-Obalende Council Manager, Mr Bashiru Kako; wife of the Sole Administrator of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, Mrs Christiana Olawale and others.

The event was anchored by the Public Relations Officer of Ikoyi-Obalende LGA, Mrs Sharafat Jimoh.

Speaking at the event, Miss Kalo said: “I decided to start off my visits to all the local councils in Lagos State from Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA to formally inform the leaders that my major priority during my one year reign as the new Miss Nigeria is to empower children in the LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos in areas of education, drugs and foods because of the historical background of the LCDA and more importantly for her name to be part of the rich history of the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA.

Kalo said furthe: “I am a resident of Ikoyi and I contested the Miss Nigeria competition with the ticket of Lagos State, and Ikoyi was the former seat of the Federal Government.

“And also what make Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA historical is that past leaders like the late premier, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, late Head of State, Muritala Muhammed, ex-presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Muhammadu Buhari and others too numerous to mention once lived in Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA.

“And I felt starting my visits from the LCDA is the best so as to be parts and parcel of the rich historical background of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA.

“My planned visit to all the local councils in Lagos State is to share my plans to touch the lives of the motherless, indigent and the vulnerable children in the society with the leaders in the areas of education, health care and foods during my one year reign; to let the children know that people out there still love and care for them and that they are not forgotten.

“I know I can’t do it alone, hence I am now appealing to well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to support me so as to collectively touch the lives of the poor children in the society,” Kalo stated.

In his response, the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA boss, Mr Felix Olawale, thanked Miss Kalo for her visit and promised to support her planned laudable projects within his limited power.

The Sole Administrator of Itire-Ikate LCDA at the event extended invitation to Miss Nigeria to come to her LCDA and partner with the poor children in the area.
