Depot manager faces N5m theft charge

A 52-year-old depot manager,Temitope Famugbiyele, was on Thursday docked at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s N5 million.

The accused, who resides at Abule-Egba area of Lagos, is being tried for stealing.

According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah, the accused converted the company’s money to his personal use.

He said the offence was committed on January 1 at Abule Egba on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

“The accused was supposed to pay the N5 million to the company which supplied some Coca-Cola products to his employer.

“Instead of paying the supplier, the accused converted the money to his own.”

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded innocence of the offence and was granted a N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The Senior Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Gbajumo adjourned the case to Aug. 15 for mention.
