A female petrol station attendant, Monsurat Oyebanji, who allegedly stole her employer’s N491,915, is facing trial at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

The 47-year old accused, whose address is unknown, is being tried for stealing.

Oyebanji pleaded not guilty.

But the prosecutor, Corporal Mary Ajiteru, insisted that the accused committed the offence between May 20 and July 6 at Remdanson Oil and Gas Station, Ikorodu.

She told the court that offence was committed at the petrol station located at 19, Ijede Road, Ikorodu.

“The accused has been stealing the money for some time.

“She has been taking from proceeds of daily sales at the station totalling N491,915 and this has had effects on the operations of the petrol station,’’ she said.

The offence contravened Section 279(1), (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs Bola Olagbegi-Adelabu, granted the accused N100, 000 bail with two responsible sureties.

The case has been adjourned to August 11.
