•Polio officials immunising a child against polio disease at Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State

The Jigawa Government on Monday said it targeted to immunise 1.7 million children in ongoing Outbreak Response Vaccination (ORV) against Polio in the state.

The State Immunisation Officer, Alhaji Hassan Kwalam, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Dutse.

Kwalam said that the state had recruited no fewer than 10,000 personnel to administer the vaccines on children below the age of five.

He said that 2,868 teams comprised of three persons each had been mobilised to carry out the vaccination across the state.

According to him, the exercise will be conducted simultaneously across the 27 local government areas of the state.

Kwalam stated that traditional rulers and religious leaders in the state had also been mobilised to ensure strict compliance with the rules and cooperation of parents and guardians.

He expressed happiness on the level of compliance so far in the ongoing, saying that the target would be attained.
