Abductors of expatriate in Lagos demand N155m ransom

The abductors of the expatriate contractor working on the expansion of the Epe Township project in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, have demanded N155 million ransom for the release of the expatriate.

The expatriate, one of the workers working for Granebury Construction, awarded the expansion of the Epe Township by the Lagos State Government, was kidnapped on Monday evening while working on site.

It was gathered on Wednesday that the abductors have extablished contact with the relevant bodies and are demanding N155 million for the freedom of the expatriate.

A top police chief who craved annonyity said the kidnappers had demanded N155 million to secure the release of the expatriate.

Our source added that the police had stepped up surveillance and were combing every nooks and crannies of Epe to rescue the expatriate still being held by the kidnappers.

Efforts to get the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Dolapo Badmus, to confirm the development, proved abortive as calls made to her phone did not go through.

However, Badmus said on Tuesday that the police had begun manhunt for the abductors of the expatriate.

According to her, “efforts are on to rescue the expatriate.”

Also, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, had on Tuesday said government was working with the police to secure the release of the expatriate contractor.
