A Kano Magistrate Court on Thursday remanded a 35-year-old man, Nura Ibrahim, in prison custody for allegedly stealing four tricycles.

Ibrahim, a resident of Gwale Quarters, Kano, is standing trial for theft, which contravenes Section 287 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor, Mr. Yakubu Galadima, said the accused was arrested by a team of policemen attached to Dala Area Command, Kano, on June 5, at about 5 p.m.

“At the time of the arrest, Ibrahim was in possession of a tricycle which he could not give any satisfactory account of.

“When he was further interrogated, he confessed to the police that he had stolen four tricycles in all.”

Galadima alleged that the other three tricycles belonged to one Suleiman Jamilu of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano.

The prosecutor said that in the course of the investigation the owners of the tricycles produced original documents to the police.

The magistrate, Fatima Muhammad, ordered the remand of the accused in prison custody and adjourned the case to July 14, for summary trial.
