Man docked for stealing N65,000 travelling bag

Nineteen-year-old Isaiah Monday, who allegedly stole a travelling bag valued at N65,000 from a shop in Ogba, Lagos, was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Monday, whose residential address was not given, is facing a charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ishola Samuel said that the accused, on June 18, stole a travelling bag valued at N65,000 at a shop in Ogba, Lagos.

“The accused went to the shop of the complainant to purchase a bag but could not get the type he wanted.

“Since the complainant did not have it in the shop, he told the accused to wait so that he could get it for him from another shop.

“When the complainant got back to the shop, he discovered that the accused had absconded with a travelling bag.

“He raised an alarm immediately, leading to the arrest of the accused by fellow traders,” Samuel said.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.R. Onilogbo, granted the accused N100,000 bail with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till July 20 for mention.
