2 remanded in prison for car theft

An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Thursday remanded two men, Kelechi Aniakor, 30, and Adewale Raji, 26, in Ilesa Prison over an alleged robbery of a man of his car worth N3.5million.

The magistrate, Mrs. Habibatu Bashiru, did not take the plea of the accused.

She, however, ordered that they should be kept in prison custody pending the receipt of legal advice from the office of the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs).

Bashiru, thereafter, adjourned the case till Aug.24 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, SP Mireti Wilson, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on May 14 at 7.30 p.m., at Alafia area of Osogbo.

He said the men while armed with dangerous weapons robbed one Chijoke Owu of his Mercedes Benz with registration number BD 750 XC valued at N3.5 million.

The prosecutor said that the offences committed contravened Sections 6 (d), 1 (1) (2) (a) and (b) of the Robbery and Fire Arms (special provision) Act, Cap R11 Vol. 14, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
