From Tuesday, the gridlock-prone Ajah Roundabout in Lekki Peninsula, Eti-Osa Local government will be shut for traffic, the Lagos state government said.

The shutdown is to enable the building of a flyover bridge to start in earnest.

To ease the problems of users of the road, the Lagos State government announced several diversions, for traffic coming from Abraham Adesanya and Epe, Ado-Badore and Victoria Garden City.

Here is the full statement issued by Engineer Ganiyu Johnson, the commissioner for works

“The Lagos State Government, through the contractor, Messrs Hitech Construction Company Ltd., has commenced the construction of Ajah reinforced concrete flyover. This bridge, on completion, will alleviate the traffic gridlocks been experienced by motorists in Ajah and its environs.

“From Tuesday, 7th June, 2016, vehicular movement in and around Ajah round about will be disallowed.

“As part of the traffic management strategies to minimise the effects of the closure on motorists during the construction period, the following diversion/alternative roads are available for use.

1. MAIN DIVERSION/BYPASS: The newly constructed 2-lane dual carriageway running between the existing carriageway of the Eti Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway and the fence of the Royal Garden Estate shall serve as the main diversion in both directions.
