The police on Wednesday charged a teenager, Michael Amos, who allegedly stabbed his friend, Segun Emopene with a broken bottle on the head before an Apapa Senior Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

According to the charge, Amos, who resides at Ajegunle area of Apapa, Lagos State, is facing a-two-count charge of conspiracy and assault.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Friday Inedu, told the court that the accused conspired with some people still at large to commit the offences on May 3 at Adidas Field, Olodi Apapa, Lagos.

Inedu explained that the accused assaulted Emopene by beating him up and stabbing him with a broken bottle on the head.

He alleged that the accused had an argument with Emopene but instead of settling it amicably, he decided to settle it with a fight.

Inedu said that the case was reported to the police by some of the complainant’s neighbours, consequent upon the arrest of the accused.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 172 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Section 172 prescribes a-three-year jail term for offenders

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr M.A Etti, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000, with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case to July 8 for mention.
