For allegedly stabbing his step-brother to death, an Ebuta-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday remanded a 20-year-old man, Chibuike Ijeoma, at the Ikoyi Prisons.

The accused, who resides at 29, Sowemimo St., Ajangbadi, was arraigned on a count charge of murder.

The Presiding Magistrate, Miss K.O. Ajibade, ordered that the accused should be remanded for the first 30 days, pending an advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The plea of the accused was not taken as the court lacked jurisdiction to try the matter.

The Prosecutor, Corporal Olusegun Kokoye, had earlier told court that the offence was committed on May 4 at 8 p.m. at 29, Sowemimo St., Ajangbadi in Ojo, near Lagos.

“On the said day, the accused picked up a broken bottle which he used to stab his step brother, Ifeanyi Ijeoma, 18, to death.

“The offence contravenes Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 and prescribes a life sentence for offenders,’’ Kokoye said.
