Aminu-Masari-Governor-of-Katsina-StateA 14-year old Islamic student, Zainab Awwal-Baldano was killed and three others injured by rainstorm at Bayan NITEL quarters in Malumfashi, Katsina State, on Wednesday.

The incident occurred as the four children were returning home from evening Islamic school.

Malam Awwal Baldano, the father of the deceased, disclosed on Thursday that part of the wall of an uncompleted building, where the children took shelter from the rainstorm, caved in on them.

Baldano said that while Zainab died, the other three sustained various degrees of injuries including fracture.

He said that the three injured children were receiving treatment at the Malumfashi General Hospital.

The acting chairman of Malumfashi Local Government, Alhaji Sada Isah, confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate.

He condoled the Baldano family over the loss and prayed that Allah would comfort them.

Isa, who is the Head of the Local Government Administration and Finance Department, also said that scores of houses in the area were destroyed by the rainstorm.

He said that officials of the Water and Sanitation department of the council had been deployed to compile the number of buildings affected by the rainstorm.

Investigations revealed that scores of buildings were also damaged in Funtua, Bakori and Danja local government areas by the rainstorm.
