Malam Yusuf Arrigasiyyu, the Executive Director, Muslim League for Accountability (MULAC) on Wednesday called out to Nigerians to monitor the implementation of the 2016 budget.
Arrigasiyyu who spoke to newsmen in Kaduna said that monitoring the budget would put those in the mantle of leadership on their toes.
He said: “This is the era of change, so there is no excuse for failure. All stakeholders should give President Muhammadu Buhari the needed support to see that the people oriented policies in the budget are implemented for the benefit of Nigerians. Over five months have been wasted over the budget controversies, so what we need is speedy implementation of the budget. President Buhari should give the MDAs the go ahead to fast track the implementation of the budget. Nigerians are in serious unwarranted hardship, as such all stakeholder must monitor and ensure strict implementation of the budget”.
The MULAC executive director also advised the National Assembly to take their oversight responsibilities more seriously while expressing the hope that the budget would turn around the economy for the better so that Nigerians would ease out of their current economic hardship.
