Police are on the of Lekan Shonde, the man who fled his home in Lagos after beating his wife, Ronke who is believed to be pregnant to death.

Lekan carried out his diabolic act at their residence at Tiemo Crescent, off Awori Street in Egbeda in the early hours of Friday.

It was gathered that shortly after Lekan realised that he had killed his wife, he locked up their children ages six and four in their apartment with his wife’s corpse and fled.

The corpse and children was discovered by their nanny who resumed work at 7:00am.

According to an eyewitness, the nanny first knocked on the door but there was no response, dazed by the silence she called Ronke’s number only to find out that it was switched off.

Then she peeped through the window, only to find her children crying while urging their mother to stand up.

Immediately, the nanny raised an alarm and neighbours soon surrounded their home and forced the door open, only to find Ronke dead.

Reacting to the news, Lagos police command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, said the case has been transferred to the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti.

She said Ronke’s body has been handed over to her family members.

“Yes I confirm the case was reported at about 8:00 am on Friday. One Mrs Tiemo E.B. of 5, Tiemo Street, Ile Epo Alhaji, Egbeda reported at Idimu division that at about 7:00 am she heard the screaming of Mrs Shonde Ronke’s children who is one of her tenants.

“The scene was visited by the police operatives and corpse moved to Isolo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

”However, the husband couldn’t be traced since the incident occurred.

“His phones are switched off but effort is on to get him,” she told TheNation.
