In fulfillment of its promise to labour leaders, the Ogun State government on Friday announced the payment of April 2016 salary to all categories of its workers and pensioners.

The state government also announced the payment of part of the outstanding deductions to the workers.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Dayo Adeneye.

It will be recalled that labour and the state government had been in continuous negotiations over the issue of outstanding deductions.

This resulted in an industrial action embarked upon early this month by the workers but was later suspended after the intervention of some personalities in the state, including the Royal fathers.

The State government, according to the statement said, “it is proud to state that, in spite of the current financial crunch, it is not owing workers salaries”.

Meanwhile, as workers across the country celebrate workers day (May Day), tomorrow, May 1, 2016, the Ibikunle Amosun-led government in the state has reassured workers of its commitment to their welfare.
