Operatives of the Federal Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos have arrested a 75-year old man, Salisu Hassan Yusuf Abiodun for allegedly parading himself as the Oba of OjoduLand, Lagos.

Also arrested with him in connection of the alleged unlawful display of firearms in the public without authority were his two sons, Ismaila Salisu, 36, Musa Salisu, 32 and one Waheed Olalekan, 32.

After investigation by Inspector Yinka and her team, the four suspects were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates Court in Lagos on a four-count charge of felony to wit, unlawful display of dangerous and offensive weapons in public with the intention to intimidate and cause terror to the Olojodu of OjoduLand, HRM Oba Sikiru Alabi Adelani Obatula and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

Police prosecutor, ASP Henry Obiazi informed the court in charge N0 M/25/2016 that the accused persons committed the offence between February 2011 to 2016 and 16 January, 2016 at Ojodu, Lagos.

Obiazi told the court that the first accused, Salisu Abiodun without an official crowning parades himself as an Oba, wears a beaded crown, beaded shoes and carries a beaded staff or regalia to challenge the validity of the lawfully recognised Oba, Sikiru Alabi Adelani Obatula, Olojodu of Ojodu land.

He siad the impostor did while bearing dangerous weapons.

Obiazi said the offences the accused persons committed are punishable under sections 409 of the criminal laws of Lagos state 2011 and sections,23(2)(c) and 29(3) of the obas and chiefs of Lagos state laws of 2003.

All the accused persons however denied police allegations in court and their counsel, Barrister Rasak urged the court to admit his clients, especially the first defendant to bail on the most liberal terms with a promise that he will not jump bail because he is the Oba of Ojodu land recognised by the Ifo Local Government of Ogun state.

Prosecutor Obiazi swiftly responded and told the court to discountenance the submissions of the defendants counsel, saying the matter before the court is about the Oba of Ojoduland, Lagos and not Ifo LGA of Ogun state.

Magistrate Mrs A.T Omoyele admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case till 23 May,2016 for mention.
